Claudia Müller-Birn is the head of the research group Human-Centered Computing (HCC.lab) at the Institute of Computer Science at the Freie Universität Berlin and member of the Cluster of Excellence Image Knowledge Gestaltung - An Interdisciplinary Laboratory at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Her research is in the field of Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing. Prior to her appointment as an assistant professor at Freie Universität Berlin Claudia undertook a post-doc at Carnegie Mellon University in the School of Computer Science. Claudia holds a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Science at the University of Potsdam.
She has recently joined the German Federation for Biological Data (GFBio), a project that aims to provide a sustainable, service oriented, national data infrastructure to improve scientific data integration and preservation in the fields of biological and environmental research. She leads the development of the terminology server, the core component of the GFBio infrastructure, that allows scientists to share their discipline-specific terminologies.
